PRESS RELEASE

Kolkata, Aug 11 2017: The Book Train campaign, a book donation drive organized by Darul Huda Bengal off campus, was inaugurated here by prominent writer Mujeeb Jaihoon. Dr. Munkir Hussain, well-known Bengali scientist and philanthropist, received Jaihoon’s novels and anthologies on behalf of the Center’s library.

In his Urdu-worded inaugural address, Jaihoon hailed Islam as a ‘premium’ way of life with beauty as its quintessential component. Hence, he argues, Muslims should refrain from any act, which violates these attributes of the Faith. ‘We have to prove the beauty of our Faith with our conduct’, reminded the Poet as he cited examples from the Muslim civilizations of yore.
‘Every citizen should focus in the nation-building activities’, he added.

He asserted that Bengal soil is intellectually rich, which has contributed two Nobel Prize winners for the Nation and has many similarities with the land of Kerala. The establishment of Kerala-based Darul Huda’s off campus here will only help to stimulate new opportunities, which may bring about a complete renaissance among its marginalized minorities.

Jaihoon recalled Islam is a Faith, which had always appreciated and encouraged the diversity of regional creativity. He hoped the Center will fulfill its historic role by fostering a unique Bengal Muslim identity among its masses. Also present in the ceremony were Shihaz Sultan and other teaching faculties of the Off campus.

The inaugural address was followed by a separate interaction session with the students who are based from Bengal and neighboring states such as Jharkhand.
