Water, Water and Water
The summer is accelerating here in the Emirates much more than expected. It is humid and burning, even in the night, as if one is cooked in an oven! But then it must be good for other living forms around (including plants and animals) which is why Creator is allowing it to happen! Yesterday when meeting an old school buddy he mentioned his investment share in a newly acquired drinking water factory. Water, the source of life, is going to attract (and distract) a lot many political and economic attention. According to recently published cover story written by editor of a leading newspaper, the no-scent, no-color liquid would be a cause for major confrontation in the Middle East. The single powerful Jewish state and their weak Arab neighbors will have plenty of drinking water-related problems.
Water, water everywhere,
Not a drop to drink is found anywhere…
Sang Mahatma when he visited Kerala in those freedom struggle days.
It is ironic that monsoon rains stormed Kerala just when the newly elected Leftist government was making plans to deal with drinking water shortage. The children get back to school in June soaked in rain. It refreshes their head and heart, no matter if it means headache for the grown-ups.
Talking about water again, I recall lines of my own poem, Sweet Seller in Paradise, dedicated to the Holy Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
The gardens became fragrant from his scent
Water got no-color tint from his matchless paint
