Around mid-day, I arrived in the house of Dr. Kamal Pasha at Tirurangadi, the aged veteran historian who held a senior post in the Calicut University. He is a popular Islamist and holds strange radical views on topics related to education and society. He shared a lot of facts and judgments on the suicide matter. Though he didn’t recall, I had visited him during Aug 1999 also See here for the MeraWatan project. He showed the same amount of enthusiasm then as now.

Done with the historian, I was approached by some students from Darul Huda Islamic Academy, a no-nosense institution with brilliant students of various calibre. Hesitantly, I agreed for their iftar invitation since there was no extra dish prepared for me separately. I opened my fast with plain water and a sweet drink, followed by few other eatables along with the countless students in the masjid. That was one of the blessed iftars I had during the last Ramadan.

I had a visit to the Academy in 2005 also with the invitation of the English Club when I had given a speech on the top-floor of the masjid
