Need for an Islamic auction site
And being a staunch believer in Iqbalian philosophy, I believe that the ‘angel should not go in hiding, when the devil is making merry’. Therefore I was envisioning a Muslim auction site where Islam was the theme, in its background, icons, sounds, animations…
The curtain has risen, its time to act!
Media is very important for the development of the Ummah. For it is the command of Islam to “verify the truth when someone brings you a news”. The “lie incident” which forms an integral part of ’sura Nur’ throws enough light on the importance of the ‘right information’ at the ‘right time’.
Omar’s Martyrdom
It has been related that the Prophet, Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him, one day seeing `Omar with a shirt on, asked him: “Is your shirt a new one or has it been previously worn?” When `Omar said, “It has been previously worn, o Messenger of Allah,” the Prophet said, “Wear the new, live benignly and die a martyr. And may Allah offer you happiness in this world and in the Hereafter.” And `Omar died a martyr reciting these words from the Glorious Qur’an: “And the Command of Allah is a decree determined.” (Al Ahzab:33:38)
Amirul Mumineen (The Commander of the Faithful)
The nature of his position as he understood it, and as all other rulers of today should, was that he considered himself the guardian of every being on the land of the whole Islamic State. “If a mule stumbled in Iraq, I will be responsible for that before Allah: Why I had not repaired the road for it.” And here lies the secret of his greatness
Omar’s Marked Individuality
`Omar’s glorification of AI-Ka’bah was such that he hoped the name of Ibrahim, Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him, be immortalized He knew the wonderful task Ibrahim had been ordered by Allah to do with the help of his son Ismail, i.e. the erection of Al-Ka’bah. So one day, `Omar went to the Prophet, Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon him, and said to him, “I wish you prayed behind Ibrahim’s standing.” At once, Gabriel came down with Allah’s revelation, fulfilling `Omar’s wish: And make an oratory (place of prayer) of Ibrahim’s standing.” (Al Baqara:2:135) Since that day, billions and billions of Muslims recite the verse of Allah, and emulate with each other to say their prayers in Ibrahim’s standing, all in fulfilment of `Omar’s wish.
After The Grand Event
“Misshapened are the faces: Let anyone who wants his mother to lose him, his son to be orphanized and his wife to be widowed meet me beyond that valley. I am emigrating to Madinah.” Nobody, of course dared to move a hand or leg. Very soon after, `Omar departed from Makkah, accompanied by Ayyash-ibn-Abi Rabi’ah, and both took their way to Madinah. The leaf of `Omar’s Makkan role in his life was then turned to give way to a new leaf of more and more brilliance in the life of our great man, as well as the life of the whole Muslim community.
The Grand Event
They were scared when they saw Omar pacing towards them with his sword in his hand. But Hamzah, henceforth the lion of Allah, said: “Yes’; that is `Omar coming to us; if he is coming for good and aiming whole-heartedly at adopting our faith, that is what we will wish and hope; if otherwise, by the Will of Allah we will easily get rid of him.” At the door of the house, `Omar asked the Prophet’s permission to go in, and the Prophet gave him that permission. With his sword back into its sheath, `Omar stepped in and beaded directly for the Prophet who at once caught hold of `Omar’s garb and the sword-belt saying: “How long, O`Omar, will you not refrain from persecuting, until Allah sends some disaster upon you?” And `Omar replied: “I testify that there is no god but Allah and that you are His Prophet!” Filled with delight the Prophet shouted, “Allahu Akbar! Greater is Allah,” and all the Companions repeated it after him
Before The Grand Event
Our man is `Omar ibnul-Khattab, of a tribe called Bani `Adiy. His father, Al-Khattab ibn Nufail, was not well-off, though he was well-known for his violence and brutal nature. There is no doubt that `Omar inherited the severity and violence of his father, and that had it not been for his adoption of Islam, he might have lived among the people of his tribe, as his father had done before, a man with a ruthless heart and a violence of character that could never have been suppressed .
What Next?
We know that the path we have chosen for ourselves is not strewn with flowers. It is rather a way that calls for sweat, blood and tears. It demands sacrifices, self-immolation, tribulations and a readiness to exert ourselves to the utmost. But there is nothing strange in this, for similar is the case with every other movement. Sacrifices are inevitable. There is no short cut to success.
Islam and Communism
The Muslims who believe in the Beneficence of God as well as His immense Grace embracing all His creatures and who believe that it is God Who sends to them His apostles to guide them aright and who believe that Islam is not subject to the economic exigencies but ascends far above them, how can such Muslims adopt with impunity the communism which holds that all the different stages of human progress are determined by the interplay of the opposing forces alone, thus leaving no place for God’s will or any other factor or initiative save that lent to it by economic existence, the pressure of need.
Islam and Sexual Repression
Western psychologists accuse religion of repressing the vital energy of man and rendering his life quite miserable as a result of the sense of guilt which especially obsesses the religious people and makes them imagine that all their actions are sinful and can only be expiated through abstention from enjoying the pleasures of life. Those psychologists add that Europe lived in the darkness of ignorance as long as it adhered to its religion but once it freed itself from the fetters of religion, its emotions were liberated and accordingly it achieved wonders in the field of production.
Islam and Reactionarism
It is often alleged by some misguided people that some aspects of the Islamic way of life are no longer acceptable to people nor in line with the requirements of modern life. They add that some Islamic traditions were originally laid down for past generations and, therefore, have exhausted their ends and have become reactionary restrictions which obstruct and delay progress.
A Clear and distinct faith in the Oneness of God
Man has been proud and presumptuous, boastful of his creations, such as philosophy, poetry and the art of government; he has taken as much pride in enslaving other countries and nations as he has in digging canals and turning arid lands into gardens; often he has arrogated himself to the position of God; but he has also demeaned himself by bowing his head before inanimate, lifeless objects, things of his own creation which neither harm nor do him any favour
Guidelines on how every Muslim should spend his day and night.
By Hakimul Ummah Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi ( rahmatullahi ‘alayh )
Animals bereft of wisdom and intelligence also pass their lives. However, a human being endowed with wisdom and intelligence spends a much more excellent and superior type of life. Similarly, a disbeliever also passes the days of his life wandering in the darkness of misguidance and deviation. However, his life is quite different from that of a Muslim who lives a secure, smooth life in accordance with the guidelines of divine revelation. The day and night of a disbeliever is spent in spiritual darkness whereas a Muslim spends his day and night in spiritual light. Hence, a pertinent question arises: how should every Muslim spend his day and night so that his life could easily be distinguished from that of a disbeliever ?
Most Common Questions asked by Non-Muslims
by Dr Zakir Naik
Suppose two sisters who are twins, and who are equally beautiful, walk down the street. One of them is attired in the Islamic hijaab i.e. the complete body is covered, except for the face and the hands up to the wrists. The other sister is wearing western clothes, a mini skirt or shorts. Just around the corner there is a hooligan or ruffian who is waiting for a catch, to tease a girl. Whom will he tease? The girl wearing the Islamic Hijaab or the girl wearing the skirt or the mini? Naturally he will tease the girl wearing the skirt or the mini. Such dresses are an indirect invitation to the opposite sex for teasing and molestation. The Quran rightly says that hijaab prevents women from being molested.
