Sura Sajda : Week one & two

Jaihoon’s thoughts & notes during Holy Quran commentary lectures by Simsarul Haq Hudawi

  • Reading this Sura along with Sura Al Mulk is as if he has enlivened lailathul Qadr (the blessed night in the Holy month of Ramadan).
  • Sky is the source of all good coming down upon earth.
  • Allah has created the earth and heavens in perfection. Man can never point to any faults in his creation or able to suggest any further imrpovements such as it should have been so and so…
  • According to Imam Razi, the flames of fire, for example, spreads vertically updards and not horizontally. Damage is reduced to the minimum due to this movement. Although this is apparently a phenomenon controlled by natural laws, it is among the wisdom of Allah
  • Man is created from dust. The animals which man eats are also dependent on plants which are grown on the earth.
  • Allah blew of His soul into Man. Only that which pleases Allah would be real source of happiness for the human soul. It reinforces the verse, “Surely with the remembrance of Allah ar the hearts content”
  • Happiness can also be had by observing those below us in blesisngs. It would remind about the favors of Allah bestowed on us
  • Imam Mujahid says that the world is like a vessel in Angel of Death’s hands. He can catch multiple souls at the same time at different places
  • Angel Azraeel also shakes hands with the creatures on earth five times a day
  • 32:12 And if you only could see when the criminals shall hang their heads before their Lord (saying): “Our Lord! We have now seen and heard, so send us back that we will do righteous good deeds. Verily, we now believe with certainty.”

One cannot understand and penetrate the truth if he is not prepared to listen or accept it. Obedience to the Divine Law is important before one can develop it further. The scope for freedom of thought begins only after discipline towards prophetic mission.

And years after… attending a Tafsir gathering, I realized new meanings for the 1400 years plus revealed verses.
