When darkness envelops the world, we search within for the light that guides us through the night’s shadow, writes Mujeeb Jaihoon.

The day has turned to night:
Where shall I seek any light?

The thirst not short of kill:
Where to seek a well to fill?

I have no plaint to any;
The fault is mine, if any.

‘Tis hard to fire burn:
From each fall I learn.

They say,
‘This is an imperfect world.
To seek angels is ways old.’

I say,
I am not in want of angels,
Just a man to lead to my self.

A stranger in my world,
Lost the way to my heart.

I am that confused hunter:
Forgotten have I my plunder.

I now give up my sport,
Enough; arrows blindly shot.

The pain is a lot more
When fallen from heights soar.

For now, leave
The road to Him.
First let me discover
My own being.

My good old friends know
Why these lines flow:

‘My Merciful Him
Who Loves me.’

Hey Tasbih!

When have I asked
For riches?
Did I ever seek
Anything besides?

Do I need
Anything more
To heal the wounds
Of my heart sore?

The heights I flew,
The depths I dived.

Yet I finally
Come to realize:
Nothing else can
Set me ablaze.

Without love’s token,
Heart’s strings broken.

How can a I song compose-
This pain, where to dispose?
