Friday, Dec 17 2012, Dubai – The visionary leadership and obedient followers along with a supportive diaspora are the secret behind the phenomenal progress of Kerala Muslims, said Mujeeb Jaihoon at the 41st UAE National Day celebrations held in Dubai.
He recalled his experience of meeting an Afro American Muslim activist who was a keen observer of the progress of Muslim societies across the world. The researcher had asked him about the secret behind the tremendous strides made by Keralite Muslims in India. “He had visited and studied the condition of Muslims across several states in India. Although he attributed a part of Muslim Kerala’s progress story to the general peaceful and tolerant relationship between Muslims and other communities in the State, he could not decipher other reasons for their development.”
Jaihoon replied him saying “There are two factors chiefly responsible for the enviable progress of Kerala Muslims. One is the availability of a visionary political and religious leadership who can steer the community through challenging times. Two, on the other side, there is a responsive and obedient following among the community who are committed to fulfilling the dreams of their leaders’. There is a third reason too. The feeder organizations among its Muslim diaspora have also helped the Community to reach its present glory. “
Jaihoon also recited his poem, UAE – Like her, no Mother Other, in dedication to his foster country’s virtues of unity, advancement and tolerance.
The meet, organized by the Dubai Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC), was attended by a host of dignitaries including Kerala’s Finance Minister KM Mani, thee Indian Ambassador MK Lokesh, Indian Union Muslim League leaders Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal and Siraj Ibrahim Sait, Chairman of Dr. Moopen’s Group & DM Healthcare Private Limited Padmashree Dr Azad Moopen, Dr Roy of Confident Group, Kerala’s youth politician KM Shaji MLA and others.
