ABOUT

All praise and Glory belongs to Allah. May his blessings be upon the Beloved Prophet, his companions and his descendants. It is in fact with the blessings of Madina that Jaihoon has been flowing…

History

Jaihoon.com was launched in 1999 as (apparently) a past time hobby of a college student. But the inner passion of such an effort was the aspiration of a thousand heart-years.

Conceptual

The evolution of Jaihoon.com has seen a sea of trials and obstacles. Masha Allah, at present it is much more than a personal homepage that it was meant to be in the initial stages. It can now rightfully claim a host of achievements like live coverage, delivering breaking news and a many other trend setting technologies like first ever website to introduce update through mobile alert and the pioneer in having a title track for a website.

Technical

The homepage was first hosted on a free hosting service with a redirected domain. Gradually it had the domain name registered as well as moved to a paid hosting platform.

Audio and Video were incorporated alongside texts. Press reports kept appearing now and then on various contents in the website. Interviews on radio and TV stations and invitations to seminars were often. Introduction of Malayalam and Arabic texts expanded the horizon of the website and pulled larger crowd.

From simple HTML table format in the past to the stylish ergonomic designs, the look and feel has endlessly evolved embracing the latest technologies in the web-o-sphere. It is impossible to mention here the names of the countless benevolent friends who have shared their expertise in developing it till the present form running on a popular CMS blogging software.

Philosophy

    What is Jaihoon.com?

Jaihoon is influenced by the writings of Hazrat Imam Ahmed Sirhindi and Hazrat Shah Waliyullah Dehlavi, well known for their scientific treatment of Islamic thought and Sufism. The philosophy of Dr Allama Mohammed Iqbal, the visionary poet-philosopher of Indian subcontinent. also immerses tremendous influence. This site attempts to spread Iqbal’s message of love and universalism. In doing so, Jaihoon has followed the interpretation of Iqbalian philosophy given by the renowned late Islamic scholar, Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi, Lucknow, India.

It primarily the product of my thoughts influenced by the works of these scholars. I have chosen them by myself and as such is prone to human errors. They are in no way responsible for my failures in understanding of their works. This site is not the official voice of any persons or organizations.

    The name ‘Jaihoon’

Jaihoon is named after a river in Turkistan which is mentioned in the following lines of Allama Iqbal

In the heart of the Fire of Rum is your remedy,
On your intellect the Franks have cast their spell;
My eye is illumined by his grace,
By his munificence Jaihoon is contained in my ewer

Grateful

My heartfelt gratitude for all those who helped me with their time, energy, advice and especially with their prayers. There are many who guided me in my pursuit of Jaihoon. May Allah bless them all.

The work ahead

The world is expanding in size and thought. But time is getting lesser and lesser. There is no time to waste. Every moment is begging for an action from you. There is no reason to sit idle because, as Iqbal says,

Waqt-e-fursat hai kahan? Kaam abhi bhi baaqi hai!
Noor-e-tawheed ka ikhtimam abhi bhi baaqi hai!

‘There is no time to relax, much still remains to be done;
You have yet to fully spread the light of God, the only one.’
