Hindinte Ithihaasam - malayalam translation of The Cool Breeze From Hind - by Mujeeb Jaihoon

Jan 19 2021, Calicut: Amidst the 100th anniversary celebration of the 1921 Malabar Revolt, popularly known as Moplah Rebellion, a leading publisher in Kerala is pursuing an innovative move with a historical fiction designed in doodle pattern book cover.

The credit goes to Hindinte Ithihaasam (The Legacy of Hind), Malayalam translation of Mujeeb Jaihoon’s novel, The Cool Breeze From Hind, published by Olive Books, a prominent publisher based in Calicut. The book is based on the legacy of iconic personalities, places and struggles that shaped the modern Muslim identity of Kerala. Ibrahim Badsha, the translator of Man Booker International award winning author Jokha Al Harthi, is the translator of this historical fiction narrated in poetic prose.

The book cover is designed in contemporary doodle pattern along with calligraphic description in 5 languages including Malayalam, Arabic, Urdu, English and Arabi Malayalam. Crafted digitally by Shiyas Ahmad, the drawings are based on the chapter topics in the book including Cheraman Masjid, Kunhali Marakkar, Ponnani, Mampuram, Tipu Sultan, Wagon tragedy, Vallathol Narayana Menon and Vasco Da Gama.

The book cover will launched by Sayyid Munavvarali Shihab Thangal on Jan. 26 2021 at a private ceremony attended by prominent Sufi Qawwali singer, Sameer Binsi, General Secretary of UAE KMCC Anwar Naha, writer Mujeeb Jaihoon, calligrapher Shiyas Ahmad and Olive Books Executive Editor MA Shahanas.
